EMDR Intensives

about me

Lourdes received a Master of Science in School Counseling from Texas A&M International University (TAMIU).  Lourdes passion was to enter the field of clinical mental health counseling and received two licenses: a License Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC). I have worked in diverse and multicultural settings with children, adolescents, adults, families, couples, State and Federal probation court mandated clients for more than 8 years. I have provided treatment to persons with childhood adversities, sexual abuse, insecure attachment, ADHD, depression, anxiety, PTSD, Bipolar, alcohol and substance abuse disorders.

My passion is utilizing the powerful benefits of EMDR to help free people from the chains of trauma, depression, dissociation, phobias, addiction, and post-traumatic stress by using EMDR Therapy. Are you ready to live without these challenges? I can help you… I have successfully treated hundreds of clients with complex trauma over the years with positive outcomes and most recently worked with individuals in treatment to address their trauma using Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). I am Certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), an evidence-based trauma therapy. This therapy is used to address attachment and relational trauma; as well as, for getting to the root causes of anxiety and depression. I offer in-person/virtual EMDR Intensives in English and/or Spanish to people who don’t have the ability to make weekly appointments and/or need relief sooner rather than later.

EMDR INTENSIVES

I want to congratulate you for prioritizing your mental health needs and challenge you to “Dare 2B Curious” about EMDR Intensives. I am super excited and passionate to finally offer EMDR intensive sessions. All this means is that you will get fast and effective relief from the mental, emotional, and physical suffering that brought you here for help.  EMDR intensives are an accelerated, structured model which allows me to work with you intensively in a shorter time frame.

If you’re like me, you get excited about certain topics of interest and impassioned about (i.e., EMDR Therapy for me!) on social media or Google search. However, if the research article is too lengthy, you get discourage and bore and usually stop reading it further. If you’ve read this far…PLEASE DON’T STOP! Keep going and find out if EMDR Intensives are a good option for you:

  • The traditional model of weekly psychotherapy is shifting to meet your needs. Now more than ever, we need flexibility in how we get support.
  • EMDR intensives are personalized treatment plans that give you VIP status and allow you to skip the waitlist by giving you faster access to select spots and are designed to support your preferred schedule and timeline for your treatment goals.
  • Perhaps you’ve had a felt sense that something deeply felt has yet to change, but you’re not quite sure how to shift all the way into a new experience of yourself with your current therapist. Possibly, you now cognitively understand new things, thus far,  your body is still confused, and dare 2B curious about how  intensive EMDR therapy can help as you work with your primary talk therapist.
  • Maybe, you’ve been meaning to get into weekly therapy for a while now, but your schedule has been so hectic and demanding that a weekly therapy appointment feels more overwhelming than supportive.
  • It is possible that you’re needing help —- and a lot of it—- right now, and you don’t want to spend months in the traditional weekly model of therapy treatment to feel better.
  • Perhaps, you need more efficient support as the busy parent with kids and/or the working professional who has even more on their plate since the pandemic.
  • Maybe you are a current, weekly client who is needing extra, focused support quickly.
  • Perhaps you are a new client who just prefers to work intensively.

RESEARCH SUPPORTING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF EMDR INTENSIVES

  • Intensive application of trauma-focused therapy seems to be well tolerated in patients with PTSD, enabling faster symptom reduction with similar, or even better, results, while reducing the risk that patients drop out prematurely. Learn more here and here.
  • Intensive EMDR treatment is feasible and is indicative of reliable improvement in PTSD symptoms in a very short time frame. Learn more here.
  • An intensive program using EMDR therapy is a potentially safe and effective treatment alternative for complex PTSD. Learn more here.
  • The economy is demanding: even compared to other trauma therapy, the intensive format may decrease treatment time, because of time not spent on:

           a) checking in at the beginning of each session

 b) addressing current crises and concerns

c) focusing on stabilizing and coping skills that the client won’t need after trauma healing, or d) assisting the client in regaining composure at the end of the session.
